  • Thank you so much for taking the step to find out more about keeping Temple Dara into 2023!

    Our building was sold this year, and the new owners are tripling the rent in 2023. I have been leading dance in our beloved Temple Dara since 2000!

     

    I've done a lot of groundwork and consulting with women in the dance community and this is what seems clear (although I am still open to suggestions and ideas). See below for some of the ways I am spearheading this situation. I believe we can do this!

  • Our initial goal is to raise at least $16,000 (half of the temple costs) to allow us to stay in Temple Dara for another 6 months.

  • For starters, we launched a GoFundMe to help raise money to allow us to stay longer!

  • The purpose of this time would be to find ongoing benefactors, rental partners, or creative solutions to allow us to stay longer term, and/or give us time to transform without disrupting in-person offerings.

    1. If you believe in the importance of sacred and supportive spaces for women to develop greater capacity to:

    2. If you want to take a stand for sustaining women's community healing spaces - especially post-pandemic, and, in general, from being pushed out by high rents!

    • $500 donation – Free seasonal (solstice, equinox, etc.) dances for 2023 - online or in-person!

    • $1,000 donation – Private 1-1 personal 4-hour session with Heather (can include: personalized life transition ritual and practices, embodiment guidance, self-care consulting - online or in-person - can be two 2-hour sessions too).

    • $2,100 donation – Free dance circles for you (or sponsor a woman of your choice) for 2023, online or in-person!

    • $3,900 donation – Free dance circles for 2023 for you and a friend, online or in-person!

    • $5,000+ donation – Use of Temple Dara, any of the benefits above, and the massive love and appreciation of the dancing community and all the good juju created in our bodies and lives unfolding into the universe! For the benefit of all beings! Hurrah! Yes! Go team! :-D

    The $16,000 goal is in addition to the other approx half of the costs I already am confident I can cover.

     

    The rest of the rent I will be paying and will secure sub-letters to help defray the cost of the rent increase.

    Now is the time to rally! Decisions around 2023 are happening in the next couple of weeks, or our time in Temple Dara will end in December after the Solstice Dance.

    Additionally, here are a few of the many steps I have taken so far…

    • I have negotiated down the increased rent for 2023 with the new landlords.

    • I have gotten agreement from my current subletters to pay more for their time in the temple.

    • Researched and applying for grants (I am not a non-profit so not very fruitful).

    • Working with a team of dancer volunteers to support transition whatever it may look like!
